This is an excerpt from Philip Glass's iconic 1982 movie 'Koyaanisqatsi', directed by Godfrey Reggio. The movie consists of slow-motion and time-lapse photography of natural landscapes and cities. It is a visual tone-poem that contains no dialogue or vocalised narrative. The tone is set by the juxtaposition of the imagery and Glass's music. In the Hopi language, the word 'koyaanisqatsi' means 'life of moral corruption and turmoil, life out of balance', and the movie implies that modern humans are living in such a way.
